So yea...lots to choose from...if you want the numbers tell me for which ones and ill add them. otherwise look on pages 403 through 405 of the yellow pages under "dance instruction" The YMCA also has some lessons but the course has already started. Personally, I highly suggest the Milwaukee ballet school. go to http://milwaukeeballet.org/ for more info on it. I take lessons at Kellar Dance Studio but thats in downtown waukesha. Ask your friend where she takes dance...that should be a good place to start as well, chances are very slim you'll be in the same class but you'll work your way up with practice over the years. Hope i could help some...I'm really glad you want to join!!!! Of course you can and don't give up! (its much harder then it looks) You CAN do it and its a lot of fun. Best of luck and keep a positive attitude!

Hmm.. Does your friend live in the same town as you then?? Not sure what to tell you as far as where to sign up but I think thats great. I was in ballet when I was younger. One of the best ones in 1st grade and the dance instructor wanted to put me dancing with the high schoolers but I was shy and didn't know the older girls so I held out and didn't.. I continued to dance til I had health problems that caused me to drop dance and swimming. I think you should go for it, its not too late. Practice makes perfect! Give it a try! Best of luck!*
Good for you. No interest in ballet myself, but yeah.
Hi, I think you should go for it
You can totally take dance. I go to a studio in Florida and a bunch of people just joined and a lot of them are older than 13 and they are really good for beginners.
hey i want to do ballet too and i want to become a professional so if u wanna chat sopmtimes about dance then email me

What should i do when im practicing ballet every day? strength training ect?

k so im not taking a dance class but ive taken ballet, tap, and jazz, for over 8 years. ive recently stopped but i want to still stay in "dancer shape" lol and keep up with stretching and dancing on my own.

i still love to dance, especially ballet and i want to continue it as a hobby. every day im stretching for 30 minutes (20 before and 10 after i dance and work out) and im doing about 100 releves, 40 releve passes, 100 crunches, frappes, plies, and some other things.. lol but idk what else to do. its weird practicing on my own. so what are some daily ballet excersizes i could do? i was pretty advanced i think, if i signed up for classes for this year instead of quiting, i would be on pointe. i was already at company level. so if theres something youre not sure if i can do, just put it down and if i cant do it, i could probably learn it.

lol k well thanks everyone

Hi there, I have it on good authority to stay in good shape you must do a hundred grand plies and a hundred grand batment a day!! Above all just have fun with it!!

Can taking ballet and dance class for 7yrs break your hymen?

im just asking...cause i have been taking dance class ballet jazz etc for 7yrs and i just wanna know does your hymen break from that

Can taking ballet and dance class for 7yrs break your hymen?the grand theater

Yes it can. A girl's hymen can be broken by any kind of activity that puts strain on her genitals. Dancing could do it.

But don't worry about whether or not you have broken it. It won't hurt you to not have it, and (if you haven't started yet) when you start your period, you'd probably have broken it from tampon use. I can't imagine wearing a pad with leotards and dance costumes that are normally tight.

It doesn't mean that you aren't a virgin, or put you at any health risk. It's just a membrane that really doesn't do anything.

Can taking ballet and dance class for 7yrs break your hymen?soap opera opera theater

why would it?
No, it would only break from penetration of some kind or something strenuous like riding a horse..etc. It can break if was barely attached to start with. It really depends on the individual.
Any physical sorts or similar activity, such as gymnastics or dancing can break a girls hymen. Its not out of the realm of possibility.
No it can't,only have intercourse or inserting something deep inside can.
yes,any physical activity can result in your hymen being broken not just intercourse
yes,

it's just a thin layer of skin, any physical activity can break it.

Don't worry about it so much though, either way your prob. not ever really going to tell any difference.

Will shoe polish turn pink ballet shoes white?

I just switched my daughter's ballet school. She had just gotten new pink ballet shoes, but this school requires white. Do you think I can just put white shoe polish on the pink ones?

Will shoe polish turn pink ballet shoes white?chinese theater

NO!!! NEVER PUT SHOE POLISH ON BALLET SLIPPERS! NEVER EVER!

The only thing you can do is buy new ones.

I am assuming she does not need pointe shoes...LOL.

Here are some places to get ballet slippers.

Will shoe polish turn pink ballet shoes white?opera mini opera theater

Yes but it will eventually crack and you will need to reapply.
Just buy a new pair. The polish will continually rub off, plus it will look bad. Spring for the new shoes so your daughter won't feel self-conscious.
Shoe polish is made for hard surfaces. Ballet shoes are made of fabric, so you would have to dye them. Unfortunately, if she has already worn them, the dirt from the soles will get all over the shoes when you try to get them wet during the color-stripping process.
If her pointes are the silky ones the shoe polish will make them look hard and ugly, almost leathery.

I'd recommend putting a cap full of bleach in a bucket of hot water.

Let them soak for 10 minutes, and then take a lot of care to rinse them out properly using first hot and them cold water.

Let them air dry and maybe apply some polish to the soles to keep them soft if they are leather..

Hope this helps.
Ummm... I really dont think thats going to do much. Even the Cremes wont stain it enough.

You might want to just try bleaching them or something. I was a shoe shiner in Vegas so I know that polish definatly wont work.
You could do but it would make them very stiff and very uncomfortable. Get new ones.
Polish won't work.... you can only dye them....Better yet, search on E bay, a lot of good deals there and you could probably pick up another pair relatively cheap...Good luck!

Does practising ballet barefoot make your feet stronger?

I'm not at the pointe stage yet - yeah, I know how it's dangerous to do pointe work in bare feet, but I'm not there yet, so no worries! =p

I'm still middling with basic barre work, relev茅s, demi-pointe... playing around with that stuff, y'know. Just wondering if practising barefoot would make my feet stronger (as opposed to practising with ballet slippers).

Besides, I do prefer being barefoot, I love going up on my tippy toes barefoot wheehee ^_^

Does practising ballet barefoot make your feet stronger?star theater

No. It makes you get callouses on the bottom of your feet which helps with modern dance but doesn't matter at all for ballet because pointe shoes make calluses in different places. Also, your muscles are made a little bit stronger from the resistance of pointing the soft shoe, so if you really want to get stronger then wear full sole leather, not split-sole or canvas shoes.

And I really hope that by "tippy toes" you mean demi-pointe, because if you already know how dangerous it is to try full pointe on bare feet, why would you be doing it just to have a little fun?

Does practising ballet barefoot make your feet stronger?extension opera theater

Barefoot is better for the musculature of the foot, ballet or otherwise.

Be well.
no, dancing barefoot won't make ur feet stronger, but it will be the same as dancing with split sole slippers. actually, dancing with slippers that aren't split sole will make your feet stronger, because you have to work harder to get your turnout and to strengthen the core of your foot. If your goal is to get to pointe, you'll be better prepared dancing with full sole slippers.
No,because when u get into Pointe Shoes ur not used to ur toes crunched up in a toe box.Because when u go Barefoot ur toes spread out!!~

Is it too late to start taking ballet?

I am 16 years old and I have always wanted to do ballet. I have never taken any ballet classes but I did gymnastics for three years and I did cheerleading for seven years. My mom says it is too late for me to start doing ballet now. She says that she will have to put too much money into it considering that I am starting too late to ever get anywhere with it. What do you think?

Is it too late to start taking ballet?opera songs

1. It is never too late. Seriously, people start when they're fifty.

2. My ballet teacher, Gary Hubler, started dancing when he was about 18, in a recreational group. he then went on to perform in LA, Las Vegas, Chicago, and on Broadway. He recently retired from head of the dance department at Webster University in St. Louis. He is my idol.

3. Even if you don't go anywhere with ballet after you take it, you've made your life better by increasing your flexibilty, learning control and dedication, fighting obesity, abd generally becaoming a healthier, smarter, more well-rounded person.

Good luck with your decision!

Is it too late to start taking ballet?secure browser opera theater

Its not to late if you just wanna do it for fun... Its way to late if you were thinking of being a professional ...
Don't EVER let anyone tell you it's too late to do ANYTHING!

So you won't go professional.

So what???

I say: Go for it! and just have fun!
It is absolutely not too late. I had danced for years and when I got to college there were people dancing right alongside me who hadn't trained long at all (some had just started as Freshmen in college). In fact, two of them are now dancing in NYC (whereas I'm wistfully daydreaming about it from the office).

In addition, ballet is truly the foundation for all other forms of dance. It might lead to your interest in other things (jazz, modern, tap, etc).

Above all else though, any dancer can tell you it's all in the heart. Whether it is a career or not, dance is a gift and an experience. I hope your mom comes around. Good luck!
No! its never too late. I started getting serious about ballet when i was older than most people and i love it! I know you will enjoy it, everyone does! okay not everyone, but go for it :)
Personally, I think it is too late. I have been dancing for 11 years now and if someone our age came into my class as a beginner, you would struggle alot. Unless you found a class for people your age whom are beginners. It is hard though to start now. My teacher will sometimes just shout out moves to do and we understand and can do it. You would have trouble.
No not at all, I don't think..It may be if you want to be a pro, but just sign up at a local studio. I have taken (classical) ballet since the age of 5 or 6, but you should be fine. thing is, most girls your age are on pointe. See if you can take regular class until you are ready. Ballet is fun, but it takes a lot of time and strength.the fact that u did gymnastics will help, because it's good to be flexible!Good luck!!

American Eagle ballet sneakers?

I ordered a pair of ballet sneakers from AE today:

http://www.ae.com/web/browse/product.jsp...

Does anyone have these? If so, are they comfortable? And oh yeah, what should I wear with these? I have a lot of Aeropostale tank tops and polos. Thanks :D

*Oh, and I know I posted this before, but the link messed up.

I really hated the comfort. The heel literally ripped open after 1 month. I personally didn't enjoy them, but since you already bought them, it's too late to get rid of them.

But they are cute, that's for sure!
