Can I get in a ballet high school of arts ..or is it too late..?

I want to get in a school of arts for high school...but i dont know if im good enough...any ballet tips i can work on..? i started ballet when i was 3 years old..and im 13 now (end of 7th grade)......do you think its long enough...i wear toeshoes..but i want tips from a pro..but i dont know where i can find a tip from a ballerina.....help! any tips..or anything..like i should always have my back straight? anything!!

Are you trying to get into a specific high school ballet program or would you apply for several of them. No one can really say what your particular chances are for a specific program; you would just have to audition and see what happens. But in general, I don't see why you're so worried. You started ballet young, you wouldn't apply until next year, so you're right on time!

With some of the ballet boarding schools, the high tuition costs present the bigger hurdle than the audition requirements. A place like Virginia School of the Arts is fairly easy to get into, as long as you're a decent dancer, but once you're in, it's a tough program and very, very expensive. Many families also don't feel that their 9th grade kids are ready to go away to boarding school, so they wait until 11th grade to enroll.

You're at a good age to look into all of the schools and decide what you want to do. Join the "Ballet Talk for Dancers" message board to learn more about all of the Pre-professional schools and residence programs for ballet.
