Does practising ballet barefoot make your feet stronger?

I'm not at the pointe stage yet - yeah, I know how it's dangerous to do pointe work in bare feet, but I'm not there yet, so no worries! =p

I'm still middling with basic barre work, relev茅s, demi-pointe... playing around with that stuff, y'know. Just wondering if practising barefoot would make my feet stronger (as opposed to practising with ballet slippers).

Besides, I do prefer being barefoot, I love going up on my tippy toes barefoot wheehee ^_^

No. It makes you get callouses on the bottom of your feet which helps with modern dance but doesn't matter at all for ballet because pointe shoes make calluses in different places. Also, your muscles are made a little bit stronger from the resistance of pointing the soft shoe, so if you really want to get stronger then wear full sole leather, not split-sole or canvas shoes.

And I really hope that by "tippy toes" you mean demi-pointe, because if you already know how dangerous it is to try full pointe on bare feet, why would you be doing it just to have a little fun?

Barefoot is better for the musculature of the foot, ballet or otherwise.

Be well.
no, dancing barefoot won't make ur feet stronger, but it will be the same as dancing with split sole slippers. actually, dancing with slippers that aren't split sole will make your feet stronger, because you have to work harder to get your turnout and to strengthen the core of your foot. If your goal is to get to pointe, you'll be better prepared dancing with full sole slippers.
No,because when u get into Pointe Shoes ur not used to ur toes crunched up in a toe box.Because when u go Barefoot ur toes spread out!!~
