Losing weight/inches- ballet/ballerina lean muscle?

hi all

i'm working in a summer camp this summer for about 9 weeks

i want to know what i can do without extra equipment to lose ..probably about 30+ lbs and some inches in this time (or as much as possible in that time

i'm specialising in mainly arts/crafts so i'm not sure how much time i'll be running around while looking after the kids

i plan to run in the evenings 7 days a week if i can -

how long should i run for?

jogging or sprinting? or varied speeds?

also swimming when i can-

again how long should i be swimming for to be in a position to lose weight?

any other suggested exercises?

cunches? squats? etc

also, any suggestions for the best ballet style exercises to build strength and lean muscle?

i'm an ametur dancer, i dont take classes but i like to dance at home

what are the best exercises for toning inner and upper/front of the thighs?

and again same question, for the obliques?

i hope someone can help =]

many thanks

-E

Try the New York City Ballet Workout exercises on DVD (2 disk set). There are a few problems that I had with the format (sometimes the narration is off), but I really saw quick improvement in my muscle tone and I loved the relaxing music. It uses the regular dance positions and you do plies and releves and all that. As an amateur dancer, you'll probably be able to do much more of the workout than I can do (I have fibromyalgia).

It's a very comprehensive workout, though, and takes about an hour to do it all the way through.

It's just a suggestion....

Oh... I think it costs $18 or $19....I got it at a chain bookstore.

Callanetics will give you a great ballet body. You can get it in a tape or a book. The old one from the 80's is the best, and they work your whole body out and you see results fast. Women shouldn't jog because the constant up and down can cause the breasts to sag, so I'd advise sprinting. Swimming is great, just have fun, you'll work everything!
